 Job Description
 The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Executive’s primary role is the implementation, maintenance, promotion, and enforcement of the company’s various EH&S programs, procedures, and policies across India and specifically at the Bangalore operation. This includes working independently and collaboratively with management, supervisors, and non-management employees alike to provide a safe working environment for our employees, contractors, and visitors. This position includes monitoring the facility and staff to ensure compliance with applicable safety, hygiene, security, and environmental rules, laws, regulations, etc. The Executive’s technical capabilities and knowledge of regulations are utilized to ensure the safety of the public and our customers during the manufacturing, transportation, distribution, and use of our products. This position also has the responsibility for establishing and maintaining partnerships and good working relationships with regulating agencies and departments locally. The EHS Executive must work flexibly and creatively to achieve the companies EHS goals in conjunction with a dynamic, fast growing, and continuously improving company. Reports to: Plant Manager, Bangalore and EHS Manager, US Responsibilities: • Proactively identify emerging and/or changing federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws, regulations, codes, etc. (e.g The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, The Environment (Protection) Act, etc.). Assess how these may impact the company and, if needed, plan and execute implementation. • Develop, maintain, and revise when necessary all written EHS programs (e.g. Chemical Hazard Communication). This includes ensuring that they are in compliance with applicable regulations, are current, and appropriate personnel have access to them. • Ensure that all employees have received and are current with any and all necessary environmental, health and/or safety training. This includes developing appropriate training programs, scheduling and delivering appropriate training, and maintaining necessary training records. This will also occasionally include finding, scheduling, and coordinating training with outside trainers. • Ensure that appropriate safety equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and personal protective equipment) is available, monitored, inspected, and maintained in the proper condition and certified as needed. • Ensure that all necessary environmental and safety regulatory permits and registrations are in place and current. For example Pollution Control Board air, water, and hazardous waste permits, etc. • Prepare and submit all necessary environmental and/or safety reports to appropriate regulating agencies. For example: Rain Water Harvest Report, Noise Level Report, Stack Emission Report, etc.. • Ensure that hazardous waste generated is handled, stored, and disposed of in compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations. • Maintain local MSDSs and ensure most up-to-date versions are readily available to all necessary personnel. • Ensure that hazardous products and samples are shipped in compliance with applicable regulations (i.e., IATA, IMDG, UN Model Regulations, and India specific regulations). This includes ensuring the product or sample is properly classified (which may include arranging for testing) and appropriate packaging, labeling, and markings are used. This also includes ensuring that HST personnel are trained and appropriate records are kept. The EHS Manager will be expected to understand the applicable regulations and be able to convey the requirements to other employees. • Keep all EHS related records and documents in an organized fashion. This includes paper and electronic records. Appropriate records and documents should be easily accessible to appropriate personnel in the event of a regulatory inspection. • Conduct internal EHS audits factory, lab and office locations to identify and mitigate hazards. • Maintain the EHS Committee at the Bangalore Operation. The EHS Manager is expected to lead and facilitate these meetings. • Ensure that all work-related accidents and illnesses are thoroughly investigated. A root-cause analysis will be performed to help eliminate the possibility of a repeat accident. This also includes reporting all accidents to appropriate management and regulatory agencies and keeping appropriate accident records. • Fulfill EHS responsibilities within product development system. This includes EHS assessments of all new products, step-by-step walkthrough of processes in Bangalore, and collaborative work with Operations, Supply Chain, Product Development, etc. • Prepare monthly reports summarizing significant EHS activity (e.g. trainings, injuries, new hazards found, etc.) to be sent to HSI EHS Manager. Participate in regular meetings with HSI EHS Manager to help ensure continuity and integrity of the HaloSource EHS Policy.
